Jakobshöjden, ca 8-20 km round trip

The first summit climb for the family’s youngest or just an adventure in untrodden terrain

The route partially follows an unmarked trail. Map an compass is recommended. Be sure to find out weather conditions and any avalanche risk before you leave. Leave a message containing your pained route with a family member or friend. You can use The Mountain Safety app.

Recommended equipment:

  • Back Country Skies with steel rim
  • Skins
  • Wind-sack
  • Spade
  • Map and compass
  • Sleeping mat
  • A warm sweater for the lunch break
  • First Aid kit
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses

Start at STF Grövelsjön, follow the marked winter trail up on the open mountain. Turn north towards Jakobshöjden, as the mountain flattens out, you are now at 1040 m.a.s.l. Now follows a 500 meters steep climb to the summit at 1103 m.a.s.l.

At Jakobshöjden there is a small shed, you can’t go inside but it may give shelter from the wind, as you enjoy a well earned snack or your packed lunch

Take the same route back, or continue north towards Pråahta If you chose the later, you can at any time turn east, down to the marked trail between Grövelsjön and Hävlingen. When you reach the trail turn south, and follow the trail back to STF Grövelsjön.
